Local Madisonian-turned-protester Philippa Bergman was quietly and painstakingly writing her message on the N. Hamilton Street approach to the Capitol here in Madison, WI. Her "ink" was local mud, created by hand, perfect for the idea of getting right down to basics.
The quote reads:
"These are the values inspiring those brave workers in Poland ... They remind us that where free unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost." - Ronald Reagan
My hat is off to you, Philippa. This is brilliant. Governor Scott Walker thinks he is the new Ronald Reagan. Republicans lionize Reagan. Apparently though, the only good collectively-bargaining union is a Polish collectively-bargaining union.
In Wisconsin, in the words of Ronald Reagan, if Walker gets his way, "freedom is lost." (Where are you, Obama? We get help from Egypt, but not our own President?)

Hooray, Phillipa! You are awesome. --Tanya
ReplyDeleteThis quote needs to be widely circulated. It's perfect for this moment in Wisconsin with this governor. Thanks Philippa!
